A movie about a famous aviatrix, and ballroom dancing are just two of the entertainment events planned for this weekend.

Cost is $37 to $18.

PUBLIC ICE SKATING also takes place at The Lakeland Center, in the Arena.

Hours are 9 a.m. to noon, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. today and Sunday.

A FAMILY FUN WORKSHOP with the theme of "found objects" begins at 10:30 a.m. today at the Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland. Admission is free.

"AMELIA" screens this weekend at The Polk Theatre in Lakeland.

"No borders, just horizons," enthuses aviator Amelia Earhart in the new biopic "Amelia." "Who wants a life imprisoned in safety?" And yet this film, coming 72 years after Earhart vanished, plays it awfully safe. Under Mira Nair's direction, "Amelia" is respectable and respectful, with a solid performance from two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank. It's also bland, never going out on a narrative or stylistic limb and finally settling into an unremarkable by-the-numbers, made-for-TV approach.

The movies is rated PG; for some sensuality, language, thematic elements and smoking.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $6 adults, $4 seniors and students.

ANTIQUES, ART & ODDITIES takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in Lake Wales.

There will be antiques, homemade crafts, potted plants, entertainment, family games, The Kidz Zone.

The site for the free event is Market Place of Historic Downtown.

DANCE YOUR HEART OUT in Plant City on Sunday.

The event takes place from 3 to 6 p.m.

Admission is $6 members, $8 non-members, $5 students.

The site is the Stardust Dance Center, 1401 S. Collins St.
